Second Time Round - this driver won the Cruddy Number Two special event

Cruddy Number Two (also known as The Second Annual Cruddy and Cruddy 2013) is the fifteenth Really Rubbish Racing Special Event and is a virtual tribute to the real-world Indianapolis 500. The inaugural running was held in 2012 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. In an effort to make the event more unique to the club, 2013 sees a change to both circuit and car, with R1 Ferrari 333SP cars racing at the fictional but fast Sunset Peninsula Speedway.

Format

Sunset Peninsula Speedway
The Cruddy-spec Ferrari F333 SP

The event will consist of a 4 lap qualifying session. Cars will be ghosted so no-one can benefit from slipstreams, and no car-to-car contact can occur. Cars will then line up on the grid in qualifying order, fastest to slowest, for a standing start to begin the 102 lap race.

The race will be split into 4 sprints, intended to mimic the closing up of the field that oval racing often sees with full-course cautions. The first sprint will be 40 laps (97.6 miles) long, the second will be 30 laps (73.2 miles) long, the third will be 20 laps (48.8 miles) long, and the final sprint to the line will be just 12 laps (29.28 miles) long. The grid for each sprint will be set by lobby points, most-to-least, meaning the driver doing the best overall should start from the front.

The winner of the event will be the first driver to cross the line at the end of the 102nd lap. 2 lobbies will be used, so times will be merged (from the final 12 laps sprint only).
