Damper Than an Otter's Pocket - this driver won the Rainmeister Cup special event

The Rainmeister Cup is Really Rubbish Racing's twelth special event, and the second to use F1 2011.

The majority of Really Rubbish Races are run in dry, sunny conditions. Even in games that allow for wet weather, the chance of rain is still random. So to remedy this, a Special Event has been set up. 4 Formula One races will take place on rain-sodden circuits, each of which are well know for a famous real-life wet race.

Calendar

The Circuit Gilles Villeneuve on an island in the St Lawrence Seaway in Montreal, Canada has seen several wet races, most famously the record-braking 2011 race, won by Jenson Button on the last lap after just over 4 hours.

The Monza circuit near Milan, Italy, rarely sees wet races, taking place at the height of the Italian summer. But the 2008 race saw the one-and-only win (so far) for the tiny Italian Toro Rosso team, and the first win of many for rising start Sebestian Vettel - who would go on to become a double World Champion - in a race won from pole position in torrential wet weather.

The street circuit in Monte Carlo that is home to the Monaco Grand Prix usually sees dry weather, but in the years that the rain arrives, the narrow circuit becomes even more difficult to navigate. One of the most memorable wet races in recent years was 1996, which saw Olivier Panis win from 14th on the grid in a race that saw all-but-3 of the entrants retire from the race, including double world champion Michael Schumacher, who stuck his Ferrari in the wall on Lap 1, champion-to-be Damon Hill who retired with an engine failure, and countless others spinning or colliding with each other.

The most notorious track for its poor weather is Spa Francorchamps in Belgian's Ardenne hills. The rolling terrain and thick forests make for unpredictable weather patters. So many races held at the circuit have been run under wet conditions that it's hard to pick any out, but the 1998 race always comes to mind, with a multi-car pile up on the first lap wiping out half the field, and Michael Schumacher running into the back of David Coulthard whilst trying to lap him later in the race.

Regulations

Rules and regulations remain identical to those of the Summer Series

Event Format

The event consists of four 20% distance races run in 100% guaranteed wet weather. The first race will see the grid decided randomly. Races 2, 3 and 4 will have reverse grids.

The top ten finishers in each race will score points. The points system is the same as the Summer Series.

Position 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th 6th 7th 8th 9th 10th
Points 25 18 15 12 10 8 6 4 2 1

The event champion will be the driver with the most points at the end of the 4 races. If points totals are ties between 2 or more drivers, race result countback will determine the champion, followed by fastest total combined race time.

Entry List

Drivers are permitted to enter the event in a team and/or chassis different to that they drive in the Summer Series.
